Abstract
Air purifiers are essential for mitigating indoor air pollution, which poses significant health risks. The efficiency of these devices largely depends on the filter technology employed. This review examines the latest advancements in air purifier filters, including High-Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters, activated carbon filters, electrostatic precipitators, and emerging technologies such as photocatalytic oxidation and nanofiber-based filters. We evaluate their performance in capturing particulate matter (PM), volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and microbial contaminants, while considering factors like energy consumption, longevity, and cost-effectiveness. The study highlights innovations that enhance filtration efficiency, such as hybrid systems and smart filtration technologies, and identifies challenges for future research, including scalability and environmental impact. This review serves as a resource for researchers and manufacturers aiming to optimize air purification systems for diverse applications.
